Rental Crisis takes Nottingham decider

Rental Crises took the nottingham-greyhounds.co.uk Sprint Trophy final, the main event at Colwick Park on Monday evening.

Having gone fastest in the heats, David Fradgley’s dog was sent off the 11/10 favourite for the decider and he had to show his early speed to get across from trap four after a level break.

However, he did just that and, once turning in front, he put the race to bend in good style to stop the clock at 18.01 (+10). Another Boxcar caught the eye finishing fast and was beaten just a neck into second, with Leelad back in third.

There were four other opens on the card and Jim Daly won two of them, starting with Jaymir Lucy in the Arena Racing Company Sprint Trophy.

The 9/2 chance popped out and made all by a length and three-quarters in 18.19, while kennel companion Jaymir Arlo (11/10fav) dominated the Arc Ladies Maiden Standard Trophy over 500m to score by three lengths in 30.25 (+20).

Jetstream Breeze continued his excellent form at this track when justifying odds of 4/11 in the ARC Standard Trophy over 500m.

Peter Holland’s dog didn’t have things all his own way, as Sambar Kian blazed a trail and the favourite had to negotiate some early traffic problems.

Jetstream Breeze’s class told in the end, though, as he worked his way into contention turning for home and stayed on well to score by a length and a quarter in 29.94 (+20). He has now won 10 of his 20 outings since arriving in the UK.

His kennelmate, Velvet Madrid, didn’t fare as well when he was turned over at short odds in the Arena Racing Company 480m Trophy.

The 4/5 favourite was first to show but couldn’t match the early speed of Sean Parker's Droopys Artilery, who led round the opening bends and ran out a comfortable three-length winner in 29.13 (+10). Velvet Madrid finished a disappointing last of five runners.

Thursday: Newcastle Hove

Friday: Sunderland Romford
