Oxford receive 63 entries for Saturday's Pall Mall
Oxford have received a whopping 63 entries for the Pall Mall, which starts on Saturday night.
The £10,000 to the winner competition, won last year by Richie Taberner's Aero Sacundai, only requires 36 entries, but Director of Racing at Oxford James Chalkley was nonetheless still happy with the entries received.
"I'm very happy with the depth and quality of the entry", he said
"As always, i feel for the connections of the greyhounds that didn't get in, but unfortunately, we've nearly had to cut more greyhounds than we could accept"
"Regarding any standout entries, you could pick from any of Kevin Hutton's strong team!!"
"Start The Engine is 7 from 7 at the track and has 6 consecutive open race wins at Oxford, Rioja Oisin is hot off a track record Category One winning performance at Central Park, Antigua Kestral recorded the fastest pre competition time of 26.31 and Union Rebel recently won the Golden Sprint at Romford"
"One interesting runner though is Aero Pepinillo for last years Pall Mall winning trainer Richie Taberner and connections. He backed up a 26.56 trial with an open race win last weekend on debut but we are yet to see if he has enough early pace to fulfil his potential at Oxford over 450m"
