Three in the JR Racing Juvenile Classic final for Patrick Janssens

Patrick Janssens produced the winners of both semi-finals in the JR Racing Juvenile Classic at Towcester on Sunday afternoon. The pick of the heat winners a week ago was Romeo Alliance and he showed that form once more to assert his dominance on the field.

He was behind Romeo Ability in the JR Racing sponsored puppy competition which concluded on Derby final night when Ability was draw in the red jacket and Alliance was out in trap four. The pair of them have both shown the pick of their form when they are closest to the rail so Alliance is in the key spot having drawn one in the final.

The litter brothers are out of Fabulous Mila who was a 35.07 Romford performer at her peak. She threw Produce Stakes runner-up Romeo Hanzo in her first litter, Irish Laurels third Romeo Taylor in her second and in this fourth mating, she has thrown a pair of pups who look genuine Derby type dogs for 2026.

In semi-final two, the money came for Not So Steady who had taken a big step forward in terms of time last week when chasing home Romeo Alliance. He was out-trapped by his main rival, Santas Amigo for David Mullins, but he got far enough in front at the first bend, to cross in front of that runner and put the race to bed down the back.

The second semi was four lengths slower than the first so there is plenty of work for them to do if the qualifiers are to lay up with the two Romeo dogs on the clock but where puppies are concerned, connections will feel that they are in there with a shout.

Semi-final 1 - 1st Romeo Alliance (t1) - 2nd Romeo Ability (T3) - 2rd Toomuchchat (t2)

Semi-final 2 - 1st Not So Steady (t5) - 2nd Santas Amigo (t4) - 3rd Bowmers Wildcat (t6)
