Perfect Mother's Day for Elaine Parker at Sheffield
It was a superb Mother's Day at Owlerton Stadium for Elaine Parker with her son Sean winning the Queen Mother Memorial Cup with Droopys Flare.

Flare makes Mother's Day special for Parker
Elaine Parker enjoyed a very special Mother’s Day on Sunday courtesy of her son Sean sending out the brilliant Droopys Flare to win the Queen Mother Memorial Cup at Sheffield on Sunday - maintaining a family tradition in the process!
A hugely successful trainer in her own right at Owlerton Stadium, Elaine has three Queen Mother Cup wins on her CV dating back to 2004 and was as thrilled as anyone to see the exceptional St Leger and Golden Jacket runner-up and Shelbourne Winter Festival winner justify red-hot favouritism in the weekend’s Category Two final.
“First off I’m just delighted for Sean and John (Stubbings, part-owner) and, of course, Flare herself,” said Parker.
“She so deserved that win having been touched off in two big finals by Mongys Wild - in the St Leger and Golden Jacket - although the Shelbourne win was absolutely fantastic.
“Sean grew up watching plenty of racing at Sheffield, including our three Queen Mother Memorial Cup wins, and numerous finalists, so it was nice to maintain the family tradition of winning the competition.”
The Parker name now stands alongside four Queen Mother Memorial Cup wins, with Droopys Flare (2026) joining Bandicoot Rhumba (2004), Russanda Tux (2006) and Mentors Girl (2007).
