Petition to challenge the Welsh ban closing in on 2,000 signatures
A petition that was started at the beginning of June to challenge the greyhound racing ban in Wales is approaching the 2,000 signature mark but it needs plenty more.

Valley petition nears 2,000 signatures
Fliers being handed out at Towcester on Derby final night and a push on social media has seen a petition to challenge the greyhound racing ban in Wales close in on 2,000 signatures.
To get any chance of a debate in the Senedd, that number needs to be north of 10,000 come the end of November, with the petition running over a six-month period until December 1.
In contrast, there were 35,000 signatures on a petition that was presented to the Senedd that started the process to ban greyhound racing in Wales in the first place.
How many of those were genuine signatures, how many were even from a UK address is a bone of contention as it has been shown that there were many thousands on there from America, to the surprise of absolutely nobody.
The one thing that cannot be hidden is that the difference in number is a startling one, and if the sport is to have any chance of fighting back against the tide, we as a collective need to show that we care.
We are not by any means suggesting that anyone who loves this sport stoop to the level of the antis and fudge signatures from all across the world, this does nothing to help the cause but if you love the sport and have not yet signed the petition then please do so, and keep sharing as far and wide as possible.
To this point, there are only 527 signatures from people living in Wales. Of those 527, just 101 are in the Blaenau Gwent Caerffili Rhymni constituency where the track is based. There are also only 30 in Brycheiniog Tawe Nedd where Jane Dodds has her seat.
Those who love greyhound racing in Wales need to stand up and be counted, in those two constituencies in particular, send a message to the Senedd that the fight goes on.
Sign, share and show your love for the sport!
