Arena Racing Company Birmingham Cup

A one-off running of the Birmingham Cup over 480m at Nottingham will include the brand new course and distance track record holder going in the final heat. Droopys Aladdin has three rivals inside him to clear rather than just one in his most recent assignment but he is a huge player in the competition as a whole.

Chelms Bear has shown some top-notch form in the past at this track. He turned closer to the pace than is often the case on Monday and just ran away from his rivals from the halfway mark. He is probably not ideally suited to the 20m shorter distance given how strong he is in the second half of his races but he is a leading contender nonetheless.

Premier Greyhound Racing St Leger

Just 20 entires into the top staying competition of the year is a little disappointing in terms of volume but the quality is there, no mistake. The competition opens with Garfiney Blaze taking on Droopys Flotilla in the opening heat while Deadly Disco heads to the traps in the second heat. and it only picks up from there.

Mongys Wild will take on Droopys Flare in the third heat, with Savanaregimental adding further intrigue to the mix as the only seeded runner in the contest. Vhagar was no match for Mongys Wild in a recent workout here but she will take plenty from that look around and now has to take on the new Select Stayers champion Fabulous Heka.
