Phil Milner's Third Bend Greyhound Derby Stats - Round Two
A hugely popular piece from the first round of the Star Sports & Orchestrate Ltd English Greyhound Derby was Phil Milner's third bend timings, so he's back with round two.

Derby third bend timings
Phil Milner has sent over his calculations again for the timings to and from the third bend for the second round of the Star Sports & Orchestrate English Greyhound Derby, and once more, they make for some very interesting reading.
Kane leads the way to the third
Glengar Kane has only had two runs in 2026, kicking off in the opening round of the Derby. 15.72 was the best mark in the first round set by Slippery Brian and Proper Heiress, with the second round times matching up well, his 15.67 taking over as the leading time.
Pat Buckley is a master trainer but he won't have gone at this dog full bore ahead of that opening effort, so despite being the quickest to the third bend in the second round, there is almost certainly more to come.
Epic Ace stepped up from a 15.95 in the opening round to a 15.73 on his way to briefly equaling the track record. That is the difference that the draw made to him, seeing a much quicker getaway.
There was a two spot difference between Ballymac Duffle's 15.75 on his way to a new track record in the opening round and his 15.73 when setting the clock again in the second. That level of consistency is going to be huge.

Track record holder strong coming home
As well as having some of the top speed into the third bend in the competition, Ballymac Duffle also led the times coming home. He is the current 6/1 market leader with Star Sports which given the way he sets times at both ends of his race, could still prove to be big enough!
One to note is Dereks Legend. He got the run of the race in the opening round when turning in front but showed just how strong he is when chasing home Proper Heiress and Ballymac Deniro. It's easy to see why connections stepped him up to six bends on just his fifth career start. He is yet to quite show the same dazzle over further but it is surely only a matter of time.

Heiress took it all out of Deniro
The clash between Proper Heiress and Ballymac Deniro was one of the features of the second round heats. It was notable that there was just half a length between them to the third bend but Deniro drops completely off the table of the top 20 qualifiers coming home.
Fellow Mark Wallis inmate Strike It Skye showed the difference that picking the right path makes with an impressive run home time. She found Hackney Corner in her way relentlessly in the opening round but found her way around Sole Focus much easier heading into the third bend.
Kranky Drake impressed again coming home to pick up his second round heat win, and once more, he shaped as if he is going to be that one who just keeps on doing enough to get through each round.
