Having sparkled in a sprint trial at Nottingham last Monday, 2025 StarSports/TRC Greyhound Derby winner Droopys Plunge steps back up to four bend action in a marathon trial session before racing on Monday night as part of his preparations for the Arena Racing Company Select Stakes on Monday 25th August
With the Arena Racing Company Puppy Classic kicking off at Nottingham next Monday, several useful looking youngster are being put through their paces in a marathon trial session before racing this Monday night.
They include Kevin Boon's Toomuchchat, who made the final of the JR Racing Juvenile Classic at Towcester before having to be withdrawn due to a cough, is over 305m, Nathan Hunt's lightly raced Mad For Cash, Stuart Ray's Blackhouse Lewi, who reached the BGBF British Bred Maiden Derby Final and won the ARC Puppy Final at Newcastle on their finals night last Thursday, as well as Paul Young's Droopys Alldeway, who is again lightly raced since a debut victory at Hove in April, all line up over 500m
Puppies aside, there are a few other notable runners having a spin round. Sean Parker’s Droopys Flare, finalist in the ARC Cesarewitch Final and track record holder over Central Parks 731m distance makes her long awaited return from injury in a solo trial over 500m with a view of being aimed at the St Leger, which begins at Nottingham in September.
Romeo Steel has a look round over 500m having been surprisingly beaten at 1/6F at Monmore last week for Patrick Janssens, while Chris Fereday’s Ballymac Odin, winner of heat and semi final of the Greyhoundtrader.com stakes at Towcester at odds of 22/1 and 33/1 respectively, before finishing fourth in the final behind Radical Scoby, also lines up for a 500m trial.
