Rein Back goes Fastest in Edgar Memorial Heats at Brandywell
We take a look back at the Monday night action from Brandywell Stadium where heats of the Willie and Mary Edgar Memorial headlined the card.

On Monday, the first round heats of the Willie and Mary Edgar Memorial 500 commenced, organised and sponsored by Patrick Edgar. The event coincides with his father’s 100th heavenly birthday. Willie, a regular attendee at Brandywell over decades, has passed on this love for dogs to his sons.
As fate would have it, Willie’s youngest son, David, was the first to celebrate a win on Monday with Edgarstown Boy (Black Parachute x Pink Turkey, Jul ’23) in Race 1. After struggling to get a clear run in recent races, he redeemed himself by leading from box four to secure a win by four lengths in 17.14 for the 300 yard trip.
Stouke Trump (Grangeview Ten x Quiet Kitty, Oct ’23) proved his capability in Race 2 from trap 2, finishing with a remarkable time of 16.56 for 300 yards. This was the year's fastest sprint time at Brandywell so far, marking a triumphant result for owner Kealan O'Kane.
Races. 3-5 were the Willie & Mary Edgar Memorial 500 semi-finals. Vin Canning's Darraghs Flash (Our Surprise x Nothing Gained, May ’23) was first to secure a place in the next round, with a victory time of 28.26 from trap 1 in Race 3.
Knockavilla Jet (Dorotas Woo Hoo x Fill The Till, Sep ’22), in Race 4, achieved a third consecutive win for owner Ethan Tyre, clocking 28.17 from trap 6.
The fastest heat time was recorded by Rein Back (Rileys Hill x Over Easy, May ’23), who showed smart pace from trap 5 in Race 5, winning with a time of 28.01.
Race 6, the Follow @UKGreysales for UK Greyhound Sale 500, sponsored by Nathan Corden, saw Leigh Thompson’s Diegos Manna (Premier Fantasy x Sidarian Fern, Jul ’22) dominate from trap 1. His early pace brought him to the front at the first bend & he stretched his advantage to secure a six and a half length victory in 27.75, making him the current leader in the Brandywell ‘Dog With Most Wins’ leaderboard for 2025. His time was the fourth fastest recorded locally this year.
The finale witnessed Imokilly Kerri take an early lead over 500 yard trip, but Italian Lady (Burgess Bucks x Cannobio, Jun ’22), from trap 2, really caught the eye as she surged from last place to a 5.25 length win in 28.35, marking her first victory at Brandywell.
