Rioja Oisin returns ahead the Silver Salver bid

Among the three opens at Central Park on Saturday night is the notable name of Rioja Oisin.

The Kevin Hutton-trained sprinter hasn’t raced since picking up a hip injury in the ARC National Sprint final at Nottingham just before Christmas, and his handler was delighted with his trial at Central Park last week.

With the ARC Kent Silver Salver his target in a couple of weeks’ time, the ARC Scurry Cup winner warms up over the same course and distance at 8.19 on Saturday and Hutton is hoping it will be the ideal preparation for the Category One competition.

The trainer wrote on his blog: “Kennel star, Rioja Oisin continued his comeback from injury with a stunning 15.90 first look at Central Park on Saturday evening. He flew the lids and ran the track very well.

“He’ll be given one race before the Silver Salver begins.”

In-form Jasman looking for more glory

Hutton is double-handed in the ARC Bitches Trophy earlier on the card courtesy of Signet Nayla and Highview Jasman, who has been in sparkling form of late.

The latter made it seven wins from her last eight starts when recording a 650m double at Oxford recently and she goes up against Liz McNair’s duo of Queen Shakira and Queen Dusty in what looks a hot 491m contest at 7.27.
