Romeo has the Ability to land final Produce Stakes to be held at Swindon
The 79th Produce Stakes will be the last to be held at Swindon, and the Patrick Janssens trained Romeo Ability will head to the traps as a very short priced favourite

Romeo has the Ability to land final Produce Stakes to be held at Swindon
The final of the 79th Swindon Two Year Old Produce Stakes takes centre-stage at the track on Saturday Afternoon. First run in 1946 at Eastville Stadium in Bristol, the competition switched to Swindon in 1997 but this year's renewal is set to be the last at the track as it due to close at the end of the year.
The competition is only open to British Bred greyhounds only and boasts an illustrious roll of honour. In recent years, the competition has been won four times by Liz McNair, with King Elvis (2017), King Sheeran (2019), Queen Jessiej (2020) and Queen Joni (2023) all landing the spoils, with the first three all offspring from the sensational brood bitch Skate On.
Maiden sprint action kicks off the open race action at Swindon on Saturday afternoon which could go the way of local runner BLACKHEATH ELLEN. She made all the running in a top grade sprint contest when last seen over this distance and the Frank Bryce trained runner could be the one to beat again here if able to repeat that performance. Amys Eske has been running well over four bends at Oxford for Diane Yeates and could be a threat if close enough as she stays on well late,
A race for the Seniors here which could see FARLOE CAPRICE making all the running for Diane Yeates. She can show cracking early pace in her top grade contests at Oxford and another of those fast starts again here would give her every chance of being able to build a race winning lead. Fellow Yeates runner Swithins Teejay has a cracking draw out wide to work from here and can mix early pace with stamina, so if turning in a handy position, which looks likely, then he could make his presence felt at the finish.
Four bend Maiden action here and a chance could be taken on the Rob Short local runner SOUTHFIELD ACE, who has come from off the pace to score in his last two starts and has a good looking draw on the rails to work from, so if able to turn the opening bends in a handy looking position, he looks to have every chance of landing the hat-trick. Zenith Jimbombom last lined up against Magical Luka at Romford, but faces nothing of that calibre in this field and the Dave Mullins runner could take advantage of this drop in class but a clear run in the early stages looks to be essential
Back to sprint action again here and having been off a few weeks, it could be the chance for DASHING DUDE to make a winning return. Prior to his absence, Frank Bryce's runner had been in good form and from a good looking draw out wide, he can take all the beating if hitting the front in the early stages. Kevin Hutton's Coppice Ronnie looks to be the obvious danger having been denied in his hat-trick bid at Towcester last time out. If he traps well again here, then it will be a case of game on
COPPICE TROPHY was denied in his hat-trick bid at Oxford last time out but Kevin Hutton's runner will be looking to get back to winning ways in this contest. He can show good early pace and can stay on well in the later stages, so if up with the pace in the early stages, then he can prove too strong at the finish. Angie Kibble's Ballymac Zeela has a cracking draw on the rails to work from and if able to produce another of her better breaks, then she could feature in the final outcome
As short as 1/4F with the bookies, it would be a surprise if the £10,000 winners prize didn't go the way of ROMEO ABILITY, though Patrick Janssens did say yesterday that he wasn't a 1/4 shot, expressing concern that Berties Decision may lead in the early stages and could move off round the opening bends. If that were to happen, then Romeo Ability may be up against it, but, he is unbeaten in this competition and if he can hit the front, then it would be tough for the others to reel him in. Angie Kibble's Eagles Respect was only beaten by him by a length in the Semi Final and was closing at the finish. He looks to be the main danger and could take advantage if Romeo Ability gets held up at any stage.
