Romeo Tomcat bolts up in Yorkshire Derby semi-final
The Patrick Janssens-trained Romeo Tomcat produced an electric turn of foot down the back straight to hit the front and pull clear of the opposition and take the first Yorkshire Derby semi-final by just over seven lengths in 29.33 at 1/3. Jacktavern Chief finished second from T4 with Keefill Goose in third from T2.

The second semi-final of the Yorkshire Derby was declared void.
Elsewhere, on the card, two heats of the Doncaster 450 Maiden took place, with the first at 7.04 going to Up The Game in 28.38 at 5s. The second heat went to Absurd from T6 at 15/8 in 28.08.
Over at Central Park, division one of the Jenningsbet Standard Trophy saw recent Ladbrokes Gold Cup winner Headford Dane make all for trainer Maxine Locke in 29.14 at 4/7, holding off the late challenge from Crossfield Enzo in T5. Division two saw Texas Jack lead at the third bend and record a two-length victory with Ballymac Blanco in second from T1. The winner recorded 29.20 and was sent off as the 13/8 second favourite.
The Jennsingbet Stayers open race at 8.05 over the six-bend 664-metre trip saw Marvellous Mabel lead late on to take the race by three quarters of a length at 11/8 in 40.95. Millbank Lily led from the third bend until the run-in but couldn’t hold off the late challenge from Mabel. Bling Bling Musk finished third a further length and three quarters back.
The Novice Stayers Open at 6.45 saw Snowdon Champ reel in long-time leader Hasty Lottie late on to take the race in 41.07 at 9/2 with the forecast paying £21.38. Bregogue Rachel took third 14 lengths behind the front pair.
A little earlier on the Arc Maiden Trophy at 5.25 saw favourite backers collecting with Swift Ubiquity running out an impressive winner by five lengths in 29.37 at 5/4. Earls Jaguar took second from T6 with Coppice Dakota in third from T2.
Just the one open race at Oxford last night and it went to the Hutton kennel. Rebel Alaska was sent off as the well-fancied 4/5 favourite from T6 but kennelmate Pom Pom had other ideas and produced a nice display of back straight. Rebel Alaska challenged off the final bend but could never quite get there with the winner taking the race by half a length in 27.44 at 7s.
