Friday Greyhound Racing Tips

A 12 open race card at Romford this evening over two, four, six and eight bends including two minor finals as well as the start of the second round of the Boylesports Irish Greyhound Derby at Shelbourne Park and plenty of open action at Sunderland.

***7.27 Romford - Indian Floyd (4pts) 6/4
***9.11 Romford - Kevins Rocket (4pts) 5/4
*9.28 Romford - Union Rebel (2pts) 11/10

Friday's Best Bet

The nap of the evening is trap five Indian Floyd in the Greyhounds Make Great Pets Maiden Stayers over 575m at 7.27pm. She has been running well without getting too competitive in recent weeks over C&D behind the likes of Missile One and Kilmore Dancer, so she takes a big drop in class this evening where she can make that count.

A level break will see her lead into the first bend and from there she has been showing good pace behind some really nice types, so she would not be for catching in a race that should not take much winning if she is at her best.

Tonight's Next Best

The next best is trap four Kevins Rocket in the Tony Williams Dual Distance Final over 575m at 9.11pm. The heats were run over 400m seven days ago where Kevins Rocket reeled in Chelms Skint so there is no reason why that form will be reversed over an extended trip. Yahoo Mareike broke 24.00 in the heats winning by over five lengths and steps up to 575m for the very first time, as does Kevins Rocket.

However, the one box from the 575m traps can be a hinderance to some so I am with Kevins Rocket to turn in a pitch behind Chelms Skint and prove too strong for him heading into the fifth bend.

Friday's Third Selection

The third bet of the night is trap two Union Rebel in the Greyhounds Make Great Pets Standard over 400m at 9.28pm. He returns to Romford for the first time since his heroic display winning the Coral Golden Sprint back in March but has returned to competitive action in fine style over the last two months being denied by a short head in the Betgoodwin Pall Mall Final at Oxford.

He subsequently went out in the semi-final of the Ladbrokes Gold Cup at Monmore behind eventual winner Headford Dane. The draw in trap two is not ideal but his consistency at the boxes sees Union Rebel extremely difficult to bet if trapping on terms and with that I am with him to lead and make all.

Further Greyhounds to note Tonight

Other notable runners on the card including the potential superstar Magical Luka for Kevin Hutton who looks set to land the spoils in the Friday Night 500 Novice Standard Final at 8.54pm and an intriguing 575m race at 8.19pm where Fabulous Sonique lines up against Missile One and Cree Bono who both head into this race on the back of a fine display over C&D seven days ago.

At Shelbourne Park Ballymac Axel flies the flag for the UK in heat seven of the Boylesports Irish Greyhound Derby second round at 9.24pm looking to continue where he left off last weekend in round one. A vacant box on his inside should help his cause and he can catch Solo And Go in the latter stages to make it two from two in the competition.

The card is full of superstars as Bockos Diamond, Cheap Sandwiches, De Lahdedah, Seven Beach and Droopys Patriot all go to traps in separate heats looking to make it through to the final 48 in eight days time.
