Saturday tips
***Bombay Pat (T5, 7.45 Central Park)
**Headford Dane (T2, 8.05 Central Park)
*Zenith Sultan (T3, 7.25 Central Park)
The Category One action is coming thick and fast right now and three semi-finals of the Premier Greyhound Racing Kent Derby feature at at Central Park this evening.
Bombay Pat (T5) looks the star attraction in the second instalment at 7.45 after the Irish raider put a good field to the sword in the heats. Graham Holland’s Derby finalist paced up into an early lead and extended his advantage to easily beat the reopposing Romeo Alliance in trap-to-line fashion. Worryingly for his rivals, he is entitled to come on for that first competitive outing at the Sittingbourne venue and he is hard to oppose.
As is Headford Dane (T2), who went fastest in the heats when making all in a smart 28.55 (calculated). Maxine Locke’s star is bidding for a third Category One success of the year and is two from two at this venue. Drawn in the blue jacket at 8.05, he looks to have a good chance of getting first run on fellow impressive heat winner Romeo Tomcat and would take some catching if he does.
Zenith Sultan (T3) chased Headford Dane home a week ago and he could go one better at 7.25, in what looks the weakest semi-final. The Richard Rees-trained runner lost nothing in defeat that day and would have strong claims on a repeat of that calculated 28.73. He came from last to first when winning here the week before and could prove too strong if, as expected, he turns prominently from a good draw.
