Saturday's Tips

*** Tiffield Tarquin - 8.46 Hove

** Sams Magic - 8.58 Dunstall Park

* Bella Bullet - 7.26 Hove

Last week Tiffield Tarquin finished a game runner-up in the final of the Coral Coronation Cup and this week, he can get his Coral Sussex Cup campaign off to the perfect start. He has only raced over this trip once at the back end of February when he stopped the clock in a blistering 29.60. There have only been seven dogs who have run this 515m distance quicker since the start of 2019, so while he needs to be careful of the smart Bubbly Hogan on his inside on the run to the opening bend, anything close to that time will be far too good.

A bitches contest at Dunstall Park this evening looks a good opportunity for Sams Magic to continue her winning ways. She was a Laurels semi-finalist at this track back in the spring, keeping good company at Monmore since, including the beating of a decent yardstick in Copney Queen. White would not be her preferred jacket but the two inside of her are fairly steady starters compared to her and that can see her away and gone.

There is a very interesting debut this evening as Bella Bullet sets foot on an English track for the first time in race action. She is yet to race over anything like this distance but the visual impression is that it is going to be a big plus for her. She beat an Irish Derby semi-finalist in Ballymac Stud in a 515m trial at this track last time out, picking up the lead at the fourth bend and extending that to two and a quarter lengths come the line. a slow starter in two can see her control the inside and make a winning debut.
