There is an outstanding card this evening at Newcastle dogs featuring the final of the Premier Greyhound Racing All England Cup and support races in the memory of Jimmy Wright.

The feature race of the evening is at 9.04 and the way that Santas Amigo has taken to life in the northeast, it is easy to think that he can produce another outstanding display to land his second Category One of the year, after taking the Classic at Sunderland. He has clocked 28.20 in both the opening round and his semi-final and a third straight run at that level should be more than enough to take the £20,000 first prize on offer.
Coppice Saphire was in flying form ahead of the opening round of the All England Cup. She was beaten three-quarters of a length in total in her heat but still exited the competition in fourth. She has a 28.45 on her card as recently as November 27, and a repeat of that should see her home in front this evening.
While Jacktavern Lab sets a decent standard on his home soil, he faces a very smart rival in the stayers tonight in the shape of Newinn Cloud. An Essex Vase, Grand Prix, Golden Jacket and Challenge Cup finalist this year, he brings genuine Category One form to the table and moved well in a recent 480m trial here, clocking 28.56.
