Arena Racing Company Select Stakes draw

Droopys Plunge has drawn trap three in the Arena Racing Company Select Stakes at Nottingham on Monday evening.

Taking place live on X, the draw was done by Deputy Racing Manager Jack Saunders on Wednesday morning and the Star Sports/TRC Greyhound Derby champion was handed the white jacket as he bids to add the prestigious £12,500 one-off to his famous Classic glory at Towcester in June.

The Patrick Janssens-trained dog faces a hot field, with Jimmy Fenwick’s Wicky Ned next door in trap four as the reigning Greyhound of the Year aims to go one better than his agonising second in the Time Dundalk International in Ireland last month.

Janssens is also represented by BGBF Champion Stakes winner Romeo Steel (middle) in trap five and Derby semi-finalist Slick Sentinel, who was automatically given the striped jacket as the sole wide seed in the contest.

The Craig Morris-trained Chelms Bear will go from trap one on his first outing since finishing second to Proper Heiress in the Coral Sussex Cup at Hove earlier in the month, while Cork Oaks heroine Silverhill Freya is the sole Irish runner and Graham Holland’s bitch is drawn in trap two.

Reserves in order of preference:

Acomb Felix- Kevin Ferguson

Romeo Tomcat- Patrick Janssens

Glengar Martha- Pat Buckley

Rackethall Brute- Mark Wallis

Following the withdrawal of Droopys Flare and Loxleys Tempo, there are now only four runners in the Arena Racing Company Select Stayers and the all-conquering Mongys Wild will be a very warm order.

With traps five and six are automatically vacant, the draw is as follows:

The £12,500-to-the-winner Arena Racing Company Puppy Classic final also features on a fantastic card at Colwick Park.
