Stars on show in crackerjack Dunstall trials session
There are some very interesting trials on the horizon with Dunstall Park on Saturday night especially hosting some superstars prepping for the track's next Cat One contests.
Hot trials coming up
Woltemade, the newly crowned Ladbrokes Gold Cup champion, trials at Dunstall Park on Saturday in preparation for the Arc Birmingham Cup.
Already a three-time Category One winner after success in the Northern Puppy Derby and Northern Flat, both at Newcastle, and then winning at Monmore on Saturday, Jimmy Fenwick's star will have a spin over the big-race trip of 480m - on a night Coral Regency champion Droopys Flare also trials at the Wolverhampton Racecourse.
Sean Parker's brilliant stayer has the Premier Greyhound Racing St Leger as a target having finished second in the stayers' Classic to Mongys Wild in last year's event when it was staged at Nottingham following the closure of Perry Barr. Droopys Flare trials over 480m.
Both the £20,000 Premier Greyhound Racing St Leger (715m) and £12,500 Arena Racing Company Birmingham Cup (480m) close to entries on Tuesday, with the heats on Saturday, September 5.
Both events are for 36 runners, with the semis on September 12 and finals night on Saturday, September 19.
*ARC Kent Plate winner Scooby The Lady, last seen when second to Strike It Syke in a fantastic duel at Towcester in the Derby consolation, continues her comeback with a trial over 500m at Hove on Thursday.
