StarSports/TRC Greyhound Derby Ante Post betting update

The runners have all been entered and the trap draw has been made for the StarSports/TRC Greyhound Derby which kicks off on Thursday Evening.

Bockos Diamond is still at the top of the market despite his defeat to Proper Heiress in the recent Time Greyhound Nutrition Juvenile a few weeks ago and is generally available at 9/2

Proper Heiress, who was available at 12/1 shortly after that Juvenile success, is generally now an 8/1 shot, though PricedUp are a best priced 10/1 if you fancy him to add another Category One title to his c.v.

One Greyhound who has been backed since winning on that Juvenile card is Graham Holland’s Cheap Sandwiches. Having been available to back at 20/1 the following day, he is now 12/1 but is at low as 10/1.

Another runner who has been the subject of good support is Maxine Locke’s impressive Hove Puppy Cup winner Headford Asher. Having been available at 50/1 with Bet365 this time last week, he can still be backed at 33/1 with them and Skybet but is as low as 20/1 with several firms.

Taking a walk in the market in recent weeks has been the 2024 Greyhound of the Year Wicky Ned. Having been as low as 12/1 prior to the Juvenile, Jimmy Fenwick’s runner is generally available at 20/1 though can be backed at 28/1 with PricedUp as a result of being drawn against Bockos Diamond in the first round.

Randolph Scotts is another who there has been decent money for in recent weeks. Generally a 33/1 shot, Peter Cronin’s Irish raider is as low as 20/1 with Boylesports, having been as big as 66/1 with Unibet this morning.

The traders at Bet365 have certainly been busy in recent days, not only were they the first Bookmakers to price up each of the Derby heats, but they have also pushed out a whole host of runners in the Ante Post market. Most runners priced 50/1 and above have been pushed out in the betting so they are a best price or at least joint best price on the majority of the runners at the lower end of the market.

Talking of which, there has been some decent money for a runner who until recently, was available to back at three figures. Ballymac Axel, trained by Maxine Locke, was recently available to back at 125/1 with more than one Bookmaker, but has been cut into as low as 50/1, with 80’s still readily available.
