Six open races took place at Star Pelaw on Sunday, August 17, with a double on the night for the Glenn Foot kennel.
Dreamin Porcha took the Star Sports #Bettingpeople open race at 7.42 in 25.37 with five and a half lengths back to Lightfoot Jamie in second. Porcha was sent off as the 8/13 favourite, and there wasn’t a moment's worry as the Glenn Foot-trained railer bolted up in impressive fashion.

A little earlier on, Hoffa Epic caused an upset in the Star Pelaw 245 Maiden Sprint, winning at 11/2 from T4 in 14.67. Born Magic finished second, three quarters of a length behind the winner. Blackstone Dani was sent off as the 4/11 favourite, but he missed the break and could only finish third, beaten just over a length. The forecast paid £30.50, well done if you found that one.

The Colin ‘Jaws’ Lloyd Birthday Stakes open race at 7.04 looked a match on paper and that’s exactly how it went in the race with Tromara Grace running out a one and a quarter lengths winner at 7/4 in 25.94 with Moanteen Pudding in second at 6/4. Moaning Beth finished third two and a quarter lengths further back.

At 8.16 in the Star Pelaw 245 Sprint Trophy open race all eyes were on youngster Moaning Hearns as the September 2023 son of Roxholme Nidge was looking to make it six on the bounce over course and distance. Sent off as the 13/8 favourite Hearns pounced late to land the knockout blow and deny Bitzer Maloney, who attempted to make all from T4. Hearns took the race by a neck in 14.84.

Towcester open report - Sunday, August 17
The Towcester Maiden Stayers open race at 2.16 saw Arthur Minute run from T2 for trainer Patrick Godfrey. Sent off as the 4/6 favourite Arthur Minute turned handy, challenged but couldn’t hit the front with Senhsa Mac proving a tough nut to crack. Off the final bend, Azza Angel in T6 stayed on in taking fashion but was denied by the shortest of short heads in a photo finished. Sensha Mac took the race in 43.92 to reward those that backed him at 7/2. It was a pleasing run from the March 2023 son of Ballymac Kingdom on his six-bend debut, and he looks like a nice type.
The Towcester Maiden open at 2.52 was won in impressive fashion by Fabulous Riki from T1 in 29.31 by four lengths. Sent off at 5/4 the April 2024 pup pinged the lids, led round and skipped clear of the chasing pack. Odds-on favourite Deadly Soprano stayed on well to grab second but couldn’t land a blow on the winner.
Division one of the Towcester standard at 3.29 went to favourite Gun Slinger at 11/10 in 29.21 with just over a length back to Newinn Sharky in second. Division two at 4.07 saw Easy Molly lead off the final bend to take the race in 29.74 at evens. Molly missed the break but then showed excellent back straight pace to turn within striking distance at the third bend. Mustang Razor hit the front at halfway but couldn’t hold off the late challenge from Molly and was beaten by a length. Gothic Joshua finished well to grab third.
