Things didn't really go to plan for Java Joan on her return to Towcester last week after making the bet365 Hunt Cup final at Oxford. She is beautifully drawn this afternoon inside a middle mover in two, and while she is going to have to come away a little bit better to take advantage of this slot, she has a class edge on this field.
Although Mystical Batman is two and a half, he has only had nine starts in his life and very much gives the impression that he is yet to show the best of his form. He shaped well in a recent trial here after a troubled run round that saw him exit the Arena Racing Company Laurels in the opening round behind Droopys Doris. He beat that solid yardstick prior to that at Oxford and this track should suit him better.
It could be a good day for Maxine Locke as her Ballymac Blanco also looks to have strong claims. He is developing into a 'proper' dog this year, arriving off the back of finishing runner-up to Droopys Aladdin in the final of the Laurels. He was a head behind the re-opposing Kranky Drake the last time that he was at this track but from a perfect launching pad on the rails., he can gain revenge.
