Sunday's Tips

*** Harton Whirlwind - 5.06 Towcester

** Newinn Souly - 5.24 Towcester

* Ballycian Boy - 4.28 Towcester

The quickest heat winner last week in the Produce Stakes was Harton Whirlwind. Already a British Bred Category One winner, he laid down a serious marker to take a second, beating the ante-post favourite in the process. He looks to have a tidy draw on the inside to work from this evening and should be able to book his place in the semis with another win.

Newinn Souly was impressive when returning from a long absence at Nottingham on Puppy Classic night. He was a finalist in the Dunstall Dash back in the spring and the winner of the Guys & Dolls last autumn so he has plenty of Cat Two experience ahead of this opening heat of the Northamptonshire Sprint. He lacks a recent look at Towcester but put up a couple of very smart times here in the summer of 2025.

An interesting one on the draw this afternoon at a slightly bigger price is Ballycian Boy. He was runner-up in his Produce Stakes heat last week but he missed the kick a mile on that occasion, doing some good work late. With a middle mover in trap one and a dog who wants the rails in trap four, even a slightly better getaway from the striped jacket of six could see him turn much handier and his stamina can win him the day.
