Sunday's feature contest is the Bresbet Steel City Cup final where Chelms Bear looks to land a quick Category One double to back up his Birmingham Cup success from last month. Craig Morris has him absolutely flying at present, lowering the clock last week in his semi-final. Romeo Steel should lead up and can prove to be a perfect second hare for him to hunt down late on. He has been trapping better himself in recent starts and he can put himself in an early position to outstay these.
There is a full card of open races at Hove this afternoon where there are a couple of trial stakes for the upcoming Gold Collar. It's a maiden where the best looking bet on the card comes, however, in the shape of Zenith Rocket. He made an impressive return from 11 weeks without a race last week in an A1 contest, just the sixth start of his career. There should be plenty more to come from him and quicker is entirely possible now that he has blown away the cobwebs with that competitive return.
Category One action gets underway at Oxford this afternoon with the opening round of the KAB Puppy Collar. Scooby Diamond produced a shock result when she turned over Magical Luka in the final of the Romford Puppy Cup, but she can prove that was no fluke by getting her campaign underway here with a win. She is the 6/1 market leader to win the competition outright.
