Unprecedented Breeding Feat for Coral Sussex Cup 2025

History is on the cards this Saturday night at Hove as the Coral Sussex Cup final features a remarkable line-up — all six runners sired by Droopys Sydney.

According to Greyhound News UK sources, this is the first time in history that all finalists in a UK Category One event come from the same sire but from six different dam lines. You can witness this landmark event live on Gone To The Dogs – live!

Droopys Sydney: Cementing His Stud Legacy

While five of the six finalists in the 2022 Two-Year-Old Produce Stakes at Swindon hailed from the same litter (Magic Bale – Forest Natalee), and Droopys Sydney sired five of six in the 2024 version of the same race, this year’s Coral Sussex Cup takes things one step further.

With all six finalists sired by Droopys Sydney, it firmly establishes him as the dominant greyhound stud dog of his generation.

Droopys Stud representative Aoife Dunphy highlighted the achievement on social media:

Droopys Sydney has already won this prestigious competition twice before, with Drumcrow Brent (Droopys Sydney – Drumcrow Kylie) in 2021 and with Newinn Benni (Droopys Sydney – Newinn Cuckoo) 12 months ago, and he is guaranteed a third success this year.

Proper Heiress arrives unbeaten in the event, having gone fastest in both rounds so far, and it is no surprise to see the Mark Wallis-trained star priced up as the red-hot favourite to claim another big-race victory.

It is a classy field, though, with Star Sports/TRC English Greyhound Derby semi-finalist Slick Sentinel boasting a lovely draw out wide, while Queen Shakira and Chelms Bear have made multiple Category One finals between them.

Ower Mystery provides some local appeal for Hove trainer June Harvey, while the presence of Quill Quids ensures a fantastic year for his handler, Esther Driver, continues.

Whoever comes out on top, it promises a superb final and we have the magnificent Droopys Sydney to thank for that.
