The six nominations for May's Greyhound Racing UK Greyhound of the Month
We run through the six greyhounds that have been nominated for the May Greyhound Racing UK Greyhound of the Month

There are six nominations for the Greyhound Racing UK Greyhound of the Month for May as follows.
Cheap Sandwiches - Graham Holland- Bark Wahlberg Syndicate
Has reached the semi-final stage of the StarSports/TRC Greyhound Derby and has captured the imagination of the greyhound racing public with his superb bursts of early pace. Quickly became second favourite in the Ante-Post market after a 28.65 second round victory with his only defeat at Towcester being when just failing to get the better of kennel-mate Bockos Diamond in the third round. Plenty of punters carry Ante-Post slips with fancy prices and will hope to be rewarded on finals night next Saturday.
De Lahdedah - Liam Dowling- The Garsuns Syndicate
Last year's reigning champion set his stall out to defend his StarSports/TRC Greyhound Derby title in the first round with a stunning 8 and a quarter length victory, recording 28.50 in doing so. That time bettered his winning time in last year's final and is clearly in fine fettle, with just the one defeat on his way through to the semi-final stage. Another who started the competition at decent odds and is sure to well backed, vocally and in the ring at Towcester on Saturday.
Elusivenomore - Jimmy Fenwick- Mr J.Fenwick, Mrs M.Fenwick, Mr D.Lawrence
Followed up his success in the Bresbet Gymcrack Final at Sheffield in April with victory in the Arena Racing Company Puppy final at Newcastle, making all the running in both heat and final. Yet to finish out of the first two in any of his seven races and this August 23 son out of Ballymac Best x Ballymac Ariel is progressing well for trainer Jimmy Fenwick and it wouldn't be a surprise to see him nominated again in the future.
Lennies Desire - Paul Hennessy - Mr L.Craze
Paul Hennessy will no doubt have been wondering what could have been last Saturday. Following a hugely impressive performance in the first round of the StarSports/TRC Greyhound Derby where he ran out a 9 and three-quarter length winner in 28.58, he unfortunately ran into trouble in the second round and was eliminated, but showed just what he is capable of in the heats of the PricedUp.Bet Derby Plate, when setting a new track record in the sensational time of 28.39.
Mongys Wild - Mark Wallis - MWD Partnership
Cemented his position at the top of the stayer standings with victory in the Premier Greyhound Racing Golden Jacket final at Monmore, going through the competition unbeaten. He set a new track record in the semi-final and final itself, recording 40.42 when defeating kennel-mate Bombay Nutty in that final. Won his last nine starts, and has only been defeated once in 13 starts this year.
Sirdar - John Flaherty - Mr M.Connolly
Earned himself a nomination for this month's award with victory in the final of the BGBF British Bred Maiden Derby at Newcastle for trainer John Flaherty. That was a deserved success for a greyhound who has been running consistently well in graded and open race action in recent weeks and months.
