Three for Brown but Mikado impresses most at Suffolk Downs
There were five open races at Suffolk Downs last night, where the Michelle Brown kennel came out on top with three winners, but it was Heather Dimmock's Droopys Mikado who impressed most.

Mikado impresses at Suffolk Downs
33.67 is the track record at Suffolk Downs, so the run from Droopys Mikado last night producing 33.90 on a track subsequently rated -30 has to be rated absolutely top notch. Add to that it was her first look at the track, beating the likes of Westfield Vicky who had won six of her last seven there and multiple Category One finalist Golden Palace, it was a performance that lit up a chilly Tuesday night in January.
Heather Dimmock's runner has a strong record over six bends with wins at Dunstall, Oxford and Towcester during 2025, adding a 500m open race win on her most recent start at the last named track last time out.
There was a treble for Michelle Brown, headlined by Tomahawk who beat his better fancied kennelmate Bucking Bucks in a 388m contest. He picked up a couple of wins at Doncaster over 450m last October, seeing limited action ahead of his return to winning ways last night.
Savana Cosmic produced another solid performance over six bends to add another win to her credit. She had run well in the face of a track bias that was against her last week, needing to dig deep to hold off some persistent challengers after picking up the lead into the straight on the first circuit.
The hat-trick was completed in the final race of the night by Gothic Abbess who was well found in the market. She had won despite that outside bias the previous week and showed that she was more than capable in a trouble filled open contest.
Darren Whitton won the other open on the night with Moaning Hearns who out-trapped his kennelmate Moaning Gentile and was always holding off the veteran in a sprint contest. The winner is now 13/22 in his career, an exceptional strike rate of 59%.
