There are two heats of a maiden stayers at Monmore this evening which hold our two top selections. Venetian Will was a finalist in the BGBF British Bred Derby at Towcester back in December and been going strongly to the pickup in recent starts in the style of one who is well worth a try over further.They include coming from behind Thor Odinson who has some solid track and trip form, so if he takes to this new track, he ought to be hard to beat.

Tooreen Rose could give Kevin Hutton a quick double in the staying races. She has been seen in race action just once in England when pitched straight into a heat of the Category One Coral Brighton Belle at the weekend. Slow to stride there, she went strongly past the line. Her best form in Ireland came over six bends, and although this is probably still on the short side for her, she is a very interesting recruit.

A trial at Monmore produced a disappointing time from Newinn Tonic but she is a far better performer than that showed. She has been in flying form at Towcester this year, showing excellent early gears to win her races. She has a slow starter to her inside in five and a bang railer in four, so she looks to be beautifully drawn. Although she needs to improve plenty on the clock for her trial here, she is entitled to for this second look.
