Thursday evening sees open racing at both Hove and Newcastle. We have selections from both cards to see us through the night.
Thursday's Tips
*** Untold Ariary - 6.42 Hove
** Coppice Saphire - 8.19 Newcastle
* Smokestack Saxon - 7.33 Hove
There is a Hove race debut this evening for Untold Ariary, but she has had a look around in a sprint here and moved well to a calculated time of 16.30. She was a semi-finalist in the Arc Angel of the North, performing well in a pair of Central Park starts since. She starts and stays and should prove a tough nut to crack in a 500m contest.
Coppice Saphire was runner-up in the aforementioned Arc Angel of the North and is back in action at Newcastle this evening in a bitches only race. She excels whenever she is in against her own sex, and with not too much in the way of pace to the bend on either side of her, she should be able to turn close to the speed and her strength can get her home from there.
The Coral Sussex Cup champion Smokestack Saxon returns to action at the venue this evening after a quick look around Nottingham in a trial. He has enjoyed a flying start to his career at Hove, winning five of his seven starts here. One of those defeats came at the paws of Bonus Bullet who re-opposes tonight but she has been stepped up in trip since, so it will be interesting to see how she reacts back over shorter.
