It is very interesting to see Crooks Mackemboy dropping into a maiden sprint for his first open race action this evening. He is a perfect 3/3 so far at this track over 480m, winning A3, A2 and A1, flashing from the boxes and showing superb speed. That suggests that he is going to have no issues dropping in trip providing that the move across the track to the different boxes doesn't stop his ping breaks. 

The sprint final at 8.01 is a fascinating affair where three of the runners will hold out strong hopes of going home with the prize. Slingshot Gazza was sensational in his heat, and given that was his first race since early April, he is entitled to sharpen up. On this night a year ago he announced himself as a smart type, winning a maiden with authority on his English debut, and can follow up in 2026 with a sprint win this evening.

The final of the Time Northern Flat is a competitive looking heat on paper, and one that is going to be hugely dependant on who comes away best from the traps. If Woltemade produces a 4.42 again then he could be away and gone but he will have to be foot perfect on the outside of four slick starters. Deerjet Rocket is on the inside of those and he can hold his line at that opening bend, make his main rivals go the long way around and kick for home off the second bend at a tasty price.
