There is open class action this evening at Hove and Newcastle, with three selections across those cards making up our Thursday night tips.

*** Smokestack Saxon - 8.07 Hove
** Tedushi Ted - 6.59 Hove
* Ballymac Shontae - 7.27 Newcastle
He is one of the shorter prices on the card but Smokestack Saxon looks the best bet at Hove this evening to follow up his win in the 500m heats of a dual distance competition last week with another success in the final. This is the same 515m distance that he landed the Coral Sussex Cup over on the first of the month, and he can add another track and trip win here.
There has only been one race start so far for Tedushi Ted, looking to make it second time lucky this evening. He flew around in a trial, clocking 29.20 back in July to mark him down as one to keep on the right side of. He didn't manage to repeat that in either trial since, nor on his race debut but he shouldn't need to go that quick to get the maiden win under his belt.
The 7.27 at Newcastle is a tasty sprint contest where the top and bottom look the pair to concentrate on. Ballymac Shontae fluffed the start badly last week on his return to race action at this venue but hopefully that should have his timing down for tonight. He boasts two of the top seven times of the year over this 290m distance and can show them the way home.
