Towcester bans kennelhand after incident at pick-up
No greyhounds hurt confirms track spokesman after internal investigation

GBGB set to hold inquiry into events after race on Thursday
TOWCESTER has held an internal investigation into an incident at the pick-up at Thursday’s meeting which has resulted in a kennelhand being banned from the track.
The kennelhand involved could be seen pushing another greyhound away as he collected his runner after the 500m contest and, while James Chalkley, Towcester’s director of racing, confirmed that no greyhound had been hurt in the incident, the track has acted swiftly in banning the individual involved.
He said: “There was a disagreement between two kennelhands when their greyhounds came together at the pick-up which in itself is not unusual at the end of races. However, we have taken a very dim view of the actions of one of the individuals concerned and he has been banned from Towcester.
“We expect the GBGB to hold an inquiry into the incident and will cooperate fully with that inquiry, but I would like to reiterate that none of the greyhounds involved were hurt during the altercation and that was our main concern in all of this.”
