Trials at Towcester this week

Some of the Mark Wallis team limbered up for their Star Sports & Orchestrate Ltd English Greyhound Derby tilts on Tuesday evening.

The track was on the slow side again as it has been for a lot of the trial sessions over the last week, the surface quickening up considerably the more that the tractor goes round.

Silverhill Adam was the most noticeable here with a 15.84 before the going was taken off. He is a dog who has huge natural pace, he just needs to start more consistently so that he can find clear air early in his races.

Goldcash Warrior trialled well over 500m for Nathan Hunt, putting together a solid body of work at the track, with three of his four looks seeing him in the 3.80s on the sectional.

This afternoon at the track the session kicks off with Droopys Graph who returns to Towcester after finishing third in the final of the Kent Plate at Central Park. Slick Sentinel and Fabulous Aria will also represent Patrick Janssens over 500m during the session.

A 2025 semi-finalist returns to Towcester as No Better Feelin looks to make another deep bid in the Derby for Esther Driver. He was one of the stories of the race last year and has been in flying form around Nottingham in recent weeks.

One of the three 14/1 co-favourites with sponsors Star Sports will have a second look at the track at tomorrow's trial session, Underground Gold. The Ladbrokes Puppy Derby winner kicks off the Thursday trials before a very quick type in Turnthemagicon goes, another who has shown some of the best form of his life at Monmore.

Paul Young has a strong Derby team on paper this year and this session should give an idea of how they are handling the track, with some other big names later on in the session as well.

There is not an official trial card for Friday at time of writing but Liam Dowling is said to be sending his team over to trial on the same day as the draw is being made. That is going to be another fascinating session to watch as the countdown to the 2026 Derby enters the final stages.
