It could be a good evening at Towcester for the Peter Harnden team, with Salacresgovenor looking a strong option to pick up his field late in a D4 contest. He failed to run his rivals down by just a head when last in action but a repeat of that run would put him close. He has only had for sprint races in his life, improving his end time with every one of them, so there should be plenty more to come.
Another who is going in the right direction is Salacres Farage. He produced a career-best over 500m on his most recent start to add to some improving form over the 460m trip which included a win in a B3. There has had to be plenty of patience with him as it has taken a while for the penny to drop, but he has got the hang of things now and can take another step forward this evening.
We are opposing a Harnden dog with our final pick and taking Ballyclearlylinks to overcome Salacres Prodigy. On the clock, Prodigy is the one to beat, but he has won a single time in his last 22 starts, finishing second in nine of them, including his last six. The selection made a striking winning debut here, and having taken a chunk out of his finish time with each start, surely has better still in the tank.
