There is a new greyhound trainer webinar upcoming in October which is titled Greyhound tracks and the science behind sand castles.


GBGB announce new trainer webinar
GBGB is pleased to announce that Dr. Richard Payne will be delivering an online talk for GBGB licensees titled: ‘‘Greyhound tracks and the science behind sand castles’’.
During the session, Dr. Payne will use his trademark engaging and accessible style to explain the physics of how greyhounds run and the unique anatomy and locomotion of the breed. He will also look at the science behind the racing surface and how it impacts greyhound biomechanics.
The webinar will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 14:00 via Microsoft Teams. The talk will be followed by a Q&A session.

Dr. Payne is an Associate Professor of Veterinary Anatomy at the University of Nottingham and a scientific and veterinary advisor to the GBGB. He also oversees GBGB’s ongoing Disease Surveillance and Monitoring Programme (DSMP), a national survey that monitors and collects information about sudden deaths and diseases in the racing greyhound population.
License holders who attend the session live will be awarded Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points. For those who cannot attend live, the session will be recorded and made available via the GBGB Trainers’ Portal.
