William Hill report “Excellent” Derby business
With the Champions League Final being played in Munich on Saturday, there may have been fears amongst bookmakers that turnover on the StarSports/TRC Greyhound Derby would be affected, but that certainly wasn’t the case at William Hill, who have reported that Derby business, particularly in the quarter-final’s on Saturday, has been “Excellent”
Senior Greyhound Odds compiler at William Hill, Derek Hope said “Derby business has been excellent, particularly for the quarter-finals. We wanted to avoid De Lahdedah and Cheap Sandwiches, which we did, and we got a nice result laying Bombay Pat and Bockos Diamond"
"I thought we would be in trouble with turnover going head-to-head with the Champions League Final but that wasn’t the case
Regarding the Outright market, we have a good book. We have laid most of the field to some degree and the only loser we have in the field is Bockos Diamond but he’s only a relatively small loser, though we would still like to get him beaten"
"Turnover has been significantly up on previous years which may be due to going Non Runner Money Back in the Outright book"
Hope is also keen to a few of the shorter priced runners in both of the semi-final’s on Saturday
“Outside of connections, I am probably De Lahdedah’s biggest fan, however the margin of error on Saturday is tiny being outside of Sole Mio and looks to be an obvious lay. Bockos Diamond and Cheap Sandwiches both look like being a lay as well. I think there’s a chance that both could get beat and I can see the front end of the market drifting in both semi-final’s on Saturday”
“The early money has been against the favourites and I have already had to make a few changes in both of the semis”.
