Zenith goes Boom with new Nottingham fastest of year
There was open race action at Nottingham last night where the star of the show was Jimmy Fenwick's Zenith Boom who produced a flying 680m run.

34 spots is a lot to take off a fastest of the year clock, especially at this time of year, even accounting for it being 680m! That is exactly what Zenith Boom did last night at Nottingham for Jimmy Fenwick, displaying the abundant talent that he had been showing in trials, but this time in race action. The plan is the Shelbourne Winter Festival for him now as well as kennelmate Zenith Pasha.
It was an easier contest for Tetra Eco having taken on some better company of late, getting his head in front in the final race of the evening for Peter Holland. This slightly shorter four-bend trip looked to suit him well, getting to the front as they headed into the back and maintaining the gallop all the way to the line.
A sprint contest went to No Dreamers for Jason Gray. She had been behind Bogger Bale when they had met over the 305m distance at this track in the middle of August, but she showed the better pace on the limited run to the opening bend over the shorter sprint trip, and the favourite was left with no time to chase her back down.
There was a win for Kelly Wilton and Fortanach John, who had little trouble scoring on his return from a couple of months off. An A1 winner in both May and June, he has only had seven starts since being bought out of the Yarmouth sales back in April. This was win number three, well in control of things from halfway.
Bonos Brother took the other open on the evening for Sarah Spillane. The November puppy also has very few miles on the clock, landing a fourth win from his first eight starts. His early pace looks a potent weapon for him to continue to exploit, looking the type who will give his connections plenty of fun.
