Another Wild night at Monmore as Mongys lowers his clock

A golden run from Mongys Wild

Breaking Monmore's longstanding 684m track record was not enough for Mongys Wild. He made sure that the new clock only stood for seven days as he ripped apart the final of the PremierGreyhound Racing Golden Jacket last night. Another 12 spots were taken off the record by the Mark Wallis-trained winner.

Sporting the red jacket, he took a while to work his way to the front but the result had never looked in doubt from the time they crossed the line the first time around. He adds this title to his Time TV Trophy victory at Towcester in March. He took his UK record to 12/13 in the process, running out a six and three-quarter length winner.

Bombay Nutty ran on to grab second to make it a Wallis forecast with Radical Scoby in third for Maxine Locke. The pre-Derby Sales purchase at Towcester ran the rest of the field ragged for a long way. Newinn Cloud, Magical Luna and Haka Carlo made up the rest of the field.

Wallis also had a winner on the undercard courtesy of Ballinakill Liam. It was his fifth sprint win in a row and he too was part of a Wallis forecast with Pavilion Team chasing him home. A pair of 480m contests on the card went to Santas Amigo for David Mullins and Newinn Oscar for Nathan Hunt.

Oxford domination continues for Hutton

Three things are certain in life. Death, taxes and Kevin Hutton winning a slew of Oxford opens on a Saturday, as the old saying goes. The Burford maestro conducted another Cowley raid with four of the five open race winners on the card coming from his range.

Highview Jasman has won seven of her last eight races, just the Coral Brighton Belle final seeing her defeated. She won an 'all change' 650m content, picking up the pace-setting Pin All In while holding off the powerful Alright Patricia, although once more not looking entirely straightforward.

Just the quickest of Hutton's 450m winners was Droopys Lettie. From the third mating of Droopys Sydney and Droopys Sweet, the October 23 whelp has won two of her four starts. The prior litter contains a pair in the third round of the Derby in Droopys Plunge and Droopys Bookem as well as Callaway Knegare. Coppice Lottie and Witton Thomas were the other pair of Hutton winners.

It was Matt Dartnall who prevented the clean sweep with Long Fellow. He didn't make it out of the first round of the Derby but the 2024 Pall Mall runner-up finds this track much more to his liking. There would not be many times that he would have come from behind to pick up a win but that's exactly what he did to grab the front-running King Jackson.

5/5 at Doncaster for Avongate Venus

The 2024 bet365 Empress Stakes winner was unfortunate to draw a difficult Derby heat but a return to Doncaster saw her produced the second quickest 483m time of the year, behind only her own kennelmate Keefill Goose. Yet to taste defeat at the track, she got the better of David Fradgley's Tiermana Blaze.

Fradgley was on the scoresheet earlier on in the night with Tiermana Rocky who picked up the first open race win of his career. The only other open on the card went to Bellmore Cricket for Barry Denby. The veteran has rattled off a hat-trick of wins this month over 450m.

Head Count stars at Central Park

The winner of 12 of her 24 starts since joining Barry O'Sullivan, Head Count once more showed that her home track is very much to her liking. She is now 9/11 at the Kent circuit with one of those defeats coming in the final of the Arena Racing Company Cesarewitch.

Boomerang Kray landed the four bend open for Dan Brabon. It was his first win in an open at his third attempt. A sprint race went to the George Andreas-trained Insane View, another winning for the first time outside of graded company.

Magical Bluebear adds another Perry Barr success

It was a time two lengths slower than when he set the fastest of the year so far a fortnight ago but it was a third win in the last four starts for the veteran. One of the stories of 2024 for William Russell, winning sprinter of the year after winning the Silver Salver at Central Park. That competition is on the horizon and the veteran has found his form again at a perfect time for Mark Russell.

A stayers contest went to Billis Wizard for John Lambe. His was the ninth sub 40-second run this year over the 660m trip, six of the other eight all came on Judgement Night. Christopher Gilbert had a winner courtesy of Bert Ted who produced a career-best to run a winners of one field ragged. Lynnia Isak landed the other open on the night for Mick Field.

Peckham doubles up at Yarmouth

Two of the three opens on the Yarmouth card went to Roy Peckham including Mrs Doyle who added another marathon win to her credit. Tullymurry Kane landed the four bend open on the night for Peckham. John Mullins was out of luck with Bombay The Joker in the 462m contest but landed the stayers with Airforce Jackpot.
