Ante-Post Market Movers- Bockos Diamond as short as 9/4 after impressive Second Round Derby victory
After a number of impressive displays in the second round of the 2025 StarSports/TRC Greyhound Derby, there have been several market movers in the ante-post betting for outright success
Following the surprise elimination of Proper Heiress on Friday night and the impressive performance produced by Graham Holland’s ante-post favourite Bockos Diamond on Saturday night, Skybet have reacted and have shortened him into 9/4, having been as big as 5/1 before racing on Friday night. He is generally a 5/2 shot now but you can still get 3/1 with Paddy Power, Betfair, Unibet and AK Bets.
Holland also has the second favourite, Cheap Sandwiches, but having also won on Saturday night, there has only been a slight change in his odds, now generally a 6/1 from 7/1, with confidence possibly tempered due to the fact that the two favourites will go head to head in the third round next Saturday.
Two other runners are also trading at single figure odds, but you can get double figure odds if you shop around.
Bombay Pat, again trained by Graham Holland, is now generally an 8/1 shot having been as big as 11/1 on Friday on the back of another success on Saturday, but PricedUp are a stand alone 10/1.
Reigning champion De Lahdedah, who finished runner up on Friday night is also as short as 8/1 with William Hill, Betfred and Unibet, but bet365 and PricedUp are still offering 12/1.
Pat Buckley’s Ballinabola Joe continues to impress in this Derby with two all the way victories, showing cracking early pace in doing so. Having been as big as 25/1 with Bet365, Bet Victor and BetMGM, he is now a best priced 14/1 with bet365 and Skybet, but is as short as 9/1 with PricedUp.
Another runner from the Buckley kennel who has been slashed in the betting is Singalong Molly. She improved from her first look round in the first round last week and was a well backed winner on Saturday night, staying on well at the finish to score. She had been as big as 80/1 on Saturday morning with Unibet and Betfred, though was generally a 66/1 shot. She is now a best priced 33/1 with Paddy Power, Betfair and AK Bets but is freely available at 25/1 with the rest of the bookmakers.
The Patrick Janssens-trained Romeo Tomcat, who was an impressive winner in the race which saw Proper Heiress eliminated, has also seen plenty of market support on the back of that contest. Having been a top priced 66/1 on Friday morning, the performance of that all the way success has seen his odds tumbling as low as 20/1 but is still available to be backed at 33/1 with PricedUp.
One runner from the Mark Wallis kennel that qualified in eye-catching fashion was the strong running Vhagar. She had been available to back at a huge 250/1 on Friday morning, but on the back of that performance, she has been cut into 100/1, a price that could still appeal for each way punters.
Last year’s finalist Churchfield Syd has won both heats in all the way fashion for Hove trainer Richard Rees, and he is another that has been well supported. Having been a best priced 100/1 on Friday morning, he has been cut into as low as 33/1, but 50/1 is still freely available.
Keefill Maverick, who was generally available to back at 125/1 on Friday morning, has also been slashed in the betting after an all the way success on Saturday night. Doncaster trainer Phil Milner’s runner is a best priced 66/1 with bet365 and Skybet with 50/1 available generally.
Bet365 have been busy in the ante-post market this morning as they have pushed out the odds on a whole host of runners. In fact, out of the 48 runners that remain in the competition, they are either a best priced, or joint best priced on 35 of those runners.
