Bacon lands a tasty prize as Graded Greyhound of the Year
Bacon Burrger has been announced as the Graded Greyhound of the Year. The Paul Burr-trained daughter of Malachi only weighs in at 25 kilos but she has plenty of heart despite her small stature.
She kicked off 2025 in A9 at Romford, rising rapidly through the ranks to win at every level above that on the graded ladder as well as taking out an open contest in early November.
A fast-starting railer, the red jacket has been her best friend as she has gone through the ranks, already adding a further A1 victory to her tally in January.
Named as Romford's Graded Greyhound of the Year, she took the national prize which was announced earlier on in the week by the Greyhound Board of Great Britain.
Talking to the GBGB, Romford Racing Manager Mark Arkell said, "Bacon Burrger has been a real star at Romford for the Paul Burr kennel in 2025; she is cleverly named by her owners Kevin and Paul, to incorporate their names, she’s definitely not a spelling mistake.
"To go from A9 to Open class takes some doing and what a great training performance by Paul and his team."
Out of 2021 Golden Sprint runner-up Geelo Gold Dust, it is no surprise that Romford has suited Bacon Burrger so well. Along with six open race wins at the London Road venue, her dam also won open races at Towcester, Nottingham, Perry Barr and Newcastle.
Congratulations to Kevin Bacon and Paul Burr on their charge being named Graded Greyhound of the Year.
