Banksie's Five To Follow- 1st August 2025
In this week’s edition of Banksie’s Five To Follow, we spotlight five promising young greyhounds who delivered eye-catching runs in the last week. With racing action across Swindon, Central Park, Yarmouth, Nottingham and Monmore, these pups look primed for future success on the UK greyhound racing scene.

Banksie's Five To Follow- 1st August 2025
Each week I’ll be looking to find Five Puppies who have caught the eye in graded in action in the last week who could be worth following in the coming weeks.
Just the one winner last week as No Name Pat was a well supported 4/9F when narrowly gaining her first victory in an A6 contest at Swindon last Saturday afternoon, though Droopys Runaway at Hove, Westwood Betty at Central Park and Kinielty Bex at Nottingham were all narrowly beaten.

Moving on to this week:
BALLYMAC DECKY: Ran from Trap 3 in the 2.31pm at Swindon on Saturday 26th July (Runs today at 3.57pm at Swindon)
Angie Kibble is no stranger to a puppy going through the grades at Swindon and she looks to have another one that is capable of doing that very thing here as April 24 youngster Ballymac Decky made a winning debut on Saturday afternoon in an A9 contest
Sent off as 11/10F, Ballymac Decky showed a decent burst of early pace down the middle to take up the lead from Slaneyside Zac in Trap 6 rounding the first bend, before building up a lead of a length and a half down the back.
However, at the third bend, Slaneyside Zac had rallied and had got to within a neck of Ballymac Decky and it looked as though he would pass, but Ballymac Decky knuckled down to hold off that rival, going clear again at the finish to score by a length and three quarters in 29.72
That was a nice performance, and she showed a good attitude when pressured, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see her improve again for that. She found four lengths on the clock from trials and if able to lead early again, then she could land the double next time out
INSANE PAULA: Ran from Trap 4 in the 2.54pm at Central Park on Monday 28th July
Insane Paula made a winning debut in a D3 contest at Central Park on Monday afternoon and could be a sprinter to follow in the coming weeks for trainer George Andreas, who returned 100/30.
The early pace wasn’t instant but the pace she showed from the run up to the first bend was fantastic, quickly building up a two length lead.
Turning on the run for home she still had that same advantage and even though her rivals tried to reel her in, she never looked to be any real danger, crossing the line a comfortable length and a half clear of the field recording 16.79.
She can only improve on that run and this January 24 puppy looks capable of scoring in higher grade next time out if able to replicate that burst of pace into the bend and may prove tough to reel in
CRYPTO ONLY MATE: Ran from Trap 6 in the 7.56pm at Yarmouth on Monday 28th July
Crypto Only Mate got off the mark at the sixth time of asking at Yarmouth on Monday evening and now she has got her head in front, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the John Mullins January 24 daughter of Smallmead going on a winning run
As usual, she was closer to last than first on the run to the bend, and had to overcome some crowding between the opening bends. However, at the second bend, she was able to take advantage of some crowding on her inside and gained a dream run up the inside, heading off down the backstraight in third, only a couple of lengths behind the leader.
Having often stayed on well in defeat, she only had to do things right at the third bend to reel in the leader, which she did, as moving back out wide, she hit the front and drew clear at the finish for an impressive five and a half length victory in 28.18 (+30) at 15/8F.
She may encounter trouble in running on occasions in the coming weeks, but if gaining any sort of clear run early, it could enable her to be in a challenging position at the third bend, and if that’s the case, can put her stamina to good use and can pounce again in the later stages.
RONDAYHERE: Ran from Trap 2 in the 12.51pm at Nottingham on Wednesday 30th July
Jill Llewellin’s April 24 youngster Rondayhere made it two wins from two starts at Nottingham on Wednesday
Having missed his break and exiting the traps in last, he showed decent pace to the bend to work up to fourth just a length or so behind the front three. At the first bend though, the door was closed in his face, forcing him to check off, before finding trouble again between the two opening bends.
Entering the backstraight, he was still in fourth about three lengths behind the leader but showed good pace down the back and at the third bend, came to challenge for the lead on the rails. Between the final two bends, he managed to hit the front and was able to hold off a strong late challenge close home to record a short head victory in 31.40 (+20) at 9/2.
Unsurprisingly, this wasn’t his quickest performance on the clock having found trouble on a couple of occasions but still looks as though he could have more to offer and could go well at a decent price next time out
SUAVE LILY: Ran from Trap 5 in the 2.07pm at Monmore on Wednesday 30th July
Pat Curtin’s November 23 debutant Suave Lily created a good impression when making a winning debut in an A10 contest at Monmore on Wednesday afternoon.
Sent off at 13/8, Suave Lily was last out of the boxes but managed to stay out of the minor trouble that occurred on her inside round the opening bends and coming out of the second bend, she sat in second just over a length behind the leader.
Having drawn alongside the leader heading into the third bend, Suave Lily drove the bend well to take up the lead, staying on well to win by three lengths in 29.49 (+10), a time three lengths quicker than she had previously produced
She certainly wasn’t stopping when she crossed the line and despite being relatively old for a debutant winner, she looks sure to improve on that run and if able to keep out of trouble in the early stages next time out, she could prove too strong for the front runners again.
