Banksies Five to Follow- 26th September 2025
Each week I’ll be looking to find Five Puppies who have caught the eye in graded in action in the last week who could be worth following in the coming weeks.
Two winners from four runners last week. Scarsdale Sue trapped well and made all the running to land the double at Dunstall Park last Friday in an A4 contest and odds of 5/4F for Paul Meek, while on Monday, Ballymac Dashel went one place better then on debut when making all the running in an A8 contest for Angie Kibble, and was well fancied to do so, returning at 8/13F

Moving on to this week:
PARKVIEW APRIL: Ran from Trap 2 in the 2.41pm at Newcastle on Saturday 20th September
Dave Winder’s March 24 youngster Parkview April made a winning debut in an A6 contest at Newcastle on Saturday afternoon in impressive fashion and looks one to keep the right side of
Having been sent off at 7/1, he wasn’t fancied to feature on debut, and when he came out of the traps in last, it was maybe understandable to see why, as from trap two, he tried getting across to the rails but had her rival in trap one on her inside, the pair getting in each other’s way on a couple of occasion on the run to the first bend
Once clearing the runner In trap one, she gained a lovely run round the opening bends and coming off the second bend, she sat in second place, a length and a half behind the leader.
She showed a good burst of pace down the back to hit the front heading into the third bend and from that point, she never looked to be in any danger, drawing clear off the last bend to record a three and a quarter length victory in 29.33 (+10), sticking too the rails on the run for home.
She improved three and a half lengths on the clock from trials, and if she can gain the red jacket next time out, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see her landing the double in higher grade next time out.
JET GUNNER: Ran from Trap 3 in the 6.53pm at Nottingham on Saturday 20th September
Lynn Cook’s April 24 youngster Jet Gunner made an impressive winning debut in A5 on Saturday and will be looking to land the double next time out
Having trapped reasonably well, he showed decent pace to the opening bend and having got the better of a slight coming together with the runner in trap six, he hit the front and off the second bend, had built up a lead of around two lengths
That lead extended further down the back, and into the third bend, the advantage was a good five lengths. Despite swinging off wide onto the run for home, he didn’t lose too much ground and crossed the line in front for a comfortable three and a half length victory in 30.08 (+110) at odds of 11/4.
Having showed good early pace to hit the front from his break, he would have every chance of following up next time out, especially if able to brush up on his trapping skills, something which may happen with experience and looks one to keep an eye on in the coming weeks
ROMEO SHADOW: Ran from Trap 2 in the 4.26pm at Towcester on Sunday 21st September
May 24 youngster Romeo Shadow is still winless after four starts but came close to landing a first victory at Towcester on Sunday for trainer Laurence Tuffin in an A5 contest
Having showed a good burst of early pace, Romeo Shadow hit the front on the run to the first bend and out of the second bend, had built up a lead of two and a half lengths despite spinning off wide.
That lead was maintained until the final bend, when his strong running kennelmate narrowed the lead and reeled him in halfway down the run for home, finishing second by three quarters of a length in a time of 29.61 at odds of 15/8
Despite finishing second, he improved over eight lengths on the clock on his previous best time over the four bends, and looks to be a winning waiting to happen in the grade of A5.
He would need to hit the front in the early stages but if able to build up another decent lead, he may have enough of a lead to hold onto in his next outing
FRUITY BETS: Ran from Trap 5 in the 5.18 pm at Sunderland on Tuesday 22nd September
Dean Blackbird’s May 24 youngster Fruity Bets may only have finished third on her debut outing on Tuesday but showed enough in defeat to think that it won’t be long before she gets her head in front
Sent off at 3/1 for her A9 contest, Fruity Bets showed a good burst of early pace to lead into the first bend, moving in on the run up in doing so and looking like a move into trap three of four will suit next time out
At the bend however, she moved off and came together with the runner in trap six who was making her challenge for the lead at the time, but having overcome that, she was able to build up a lead of a length of a half going down the back.
She kept that lead until the final bend, where she was overtaken by the winner and another runner who stayed on well to finish second, and as a result, she finished in third, beaten a length and half by the winner.
In finishing third, she was able to improve four lengths on the clock from her trial performances, but being just a May 24 whelp, she looks sure to improve on that run again and if showing a similar burst of early pace, then she may just be able to hold on the stronger she gets.
ROMEO ZONE : Ran from Trap 3 in the 11.38 am at Towcester on Tuesday 23rd September
April 24 youngster Romeo Zone has finished runner up on both starts in D3 company but showed that a win may not be far away and is worth following in the coming weeks, especially when stepping up to four bends
Having trapped reasonably well, Romeo Zone sat in third heading into the first bend, but found his pathway blocked slightly, forcing him to lose some ground, dropping back to fifth in doing so, and heading onto the run for home, he was a good three lengths behind the leaders
It was at this point though that the stamina kicked in for Laurence Tuffin’s youngster, and having darted across to the rails, he stayed on strongly on the run for home, only just failing to reel in the winner, going down by a short head in 16.37 at odds of 10/11F.
If he can gain a clearer passage round the opening bends, then he looks more than capable of scoring at this level of D3, but it would appear that his future lies over four bends, and when stepping up in distance, he would have to be of further interest.
