Banksies Five to Follow- Friday 12th September
Each week I’ll be looking to find Five Puppies who have caught the eye in graded in action in the last week who could be worth following in the coming weeks.
Just the one winner from four runners last week. Swift Dirty did the business again at Nottingham last Saturday, getting up close home again in an A3 contest to score at 13/8F in 30.86.

Moving on to this week:
RISE UP JENNY: Ran from Trap 2 in the 12.21pm at Doncaster on Saturday 6th September
Susan Watson’s Rise Up Jenny made a winning debut at Doncaster on Saturday having recently been purchased from the Greyhound Trader sales auction at the track, and this April 24 youngster could be capable of following up this winning run.
She didn’t produce a great start in this B4 contest, the 2.36 sectional being much slower than her previous two trials, but managed to turn the opening bends in a handy position, coming out of the second bend in second, three lengths behind the leader.
Making inroads down the back, she turned the third bend a length and a half behind the leader and continued to make up ground, taking up the lead on the run for home to win going away by half a length in 28.29 (+20) at 4/1.
She has improved by eight lengths on the clock in little over three weeks and may yet have more to come, especially if able to improve on her trapping skills and looks sure to be on target again in the coming weeks
BANKSMAN: Ran from Trap 6 in the 12.54pm at Doncaster on Saturday 6th September
Just over half an hour after Rise Up Jenny’s debut victory, Banksman also made a winning debut for Susan Watson with the March 24 puppy landing a B5 contest.
Having initially broke from the traps in last, Banksman showed decent early pace into the opening bends and as a result, was able to exit the second bend with the lead, building up a length advantage.
Rounding the third bend, that lead had built up to just over two lengths, and despite a late charge from the runner up, he was able to hold on for a length success in 28.13 (+20) at 7/2
Like Rise Up Jenny, he has improved a bundle on the clock in recent weeks, in his case over a second, and he may yet have more to offer. He may need to improve on his trapping, but if doing so, then he could win next time out in higher grade
BONITA MOON: Ran from Trap 4 in the 7.14pm at Oxford on Saturday 6th September
Kevin Hutton is no stranger to a useful youngster, and he may well have another one based on the run of March 24 youngster Bonita Moon last Saturday night
Sent off at 13/8F for an A4 contest, Bonita Moon showed a cracking burst of early pace from the traps and quickly built up a lead of a length heading into the opening turn
Some crowding in behind worked in her favour and coming out of the second bend, Bonita Moon had built up a lead of around six to seven lengths, a lead that was maintained all the way to the finish, crossing the line five and three quarter lengths in front of her rivals, stopping the clock in 27.33.
Yes, she took advantage of the trouble in behind, but it would have taken a smart performance to have beaten her on this running, and she improved just over four lengths on the clock from her previous best time in just her second race, so she could follow up next time out though could face a two grade rise for that run
WEIRD PEOPLE: Ran from Trap 2 in the 11.52am at Yarmouth on Sunday 7th September
Erica Samuels’s May 24 youngster was having her second run on Sunday morning and produced the sort of performance that makes her one to keep an eye on in the coming weeks
When the traps opened, she was last out of the traps, but immediately headed towards the rails from trap two, so much so that she actually bounced off them but she continued her run into the first bend, where she encountered trouble on two occasions when running up the backside of the runner in trap one
She then spun right off at the second bend, almost onto the hare rail, before edging back in again, again so much so that she bumped off the rail at the third bend, but despite all this, she stayed on well in the later stages and was only beaten by four lengths when finishing third.
She is only a May 24 whelp and looks as green as grass, but when everything falls into place, there is no doubting that she has the pace to score in A7, maybe even A8 if the grader is feeling in a generous mood
NEWINN AERO : Ran from Trap 3 in the 7.11 pm at Romford on Wednesday 10th September
Maxine Locke’s April 24 youngster made a winning debut in an A4 contest at Romford on Wednesday in impressive fashion
Newinn Aero produced a decent break, nothing overly special though, when hitting the front in the early stages. At the first bend, he overcame a slight coming together on a couple of occasions with his rival in trap six, but was still able to retain the lead of a length coming out of the second bend.
Heading into the third bend, that lead had extended to a length and a half, and was just extending further again when some minor trouble behind occurred, enabling him to draw clear for a six length victory in 24.13.
It wouldn’t be a surprise to see him going up two grades for this success, but his winning run suggests that he would be up to that task, though may need to show a bit more early from the traps up against tougher rivals, something which he Is more than capable of doing
