The opening show for the 2026 Star Sports/GWA Media Derby Tipping Challenge is up as the field of 47 embark on their first round tipping!
As always, the betting is topped by Ian Fortune and that should be no surprise given the commentator has a serious pedigree in the event.
Jonathan Kay is next in the market ahead of our ex-colleague at Greyhound Racing UK, Joe Conneely. One person who won't be happy at Joe being 10/1 is his brother Ryan with the Barking Mad Betting ace at 16/1. There should be plentiful banter between the pair over the weeks of the competition.
14/1 sees both the Racing Post's Paul Brown and one of the finest drinking companions that anyone in the sport could have in Admiral Benbow. The latter tends to swing for the fences with huge prices naps in the first round, so keep an eye out for when Star Sports release the tips ahead of each night of racing.
