British Bred Derby returns to Sheffield
The British Bred Derby will return to Sheffield this year in December after the contest was run at Towcester in 2025.
Sheffield to host the 2026 British Bred Derby
The British Greyhound Breeders Forum (BGBF) has announced that the British Bred Derby is to return to Sheffield this year.
Previously hosted by the Owlerton Stadium, Towcester stepped in to stage at the British-bred showcase at the eleventh hour last year when it looked as if the event might not be staged - and victory went to King Memphis, ultimately bringing his career to a brilliant close.
This year's British Bred Derby will be run over 500m with heats on December 6, the semi-finals on December 13 and the final on Sunday, December 20.
Meanwhile, Sheffield has also confirmed details of the upcoming Steel City Cup, welcoming a new sponsor for the famous and longstanding 500m Category One which starts on Sunday week (October 4).
The BetGoodwin Steel City Cup will close to entries on Wednesday with heats on the following Sunday, the semi-finals on Sunday, October 11, and the £12,500 final on Sunday, October 18.
