Zenith Kindy has been retired
ZENITH RACING has announced that its Coral Silver Maiden winner Zenith Kindy has been retired after an injury at Central Park on Saturday.
Lining up in preparation for a crack at the Arc Kent Plate before a Star Sports & Orchestrate English Greyhound Derby at Towcester, failed to finish in his second warm-up contest at the Sittingbourne venue after running so well the week before.
A message on Zenith Racing's X account said: "It is with great sadness we have to announce the retirement of our champion Zenith Kindy (Droopys Sydney-Queen Lilly, Nov 23).
"We call him a champion because we know what he already was and what he so very nearly could have become.
"A winner of five races in a month around Romford for supremo David Mullins, the Kent Plate and English Derby beckoned.
"This lad took until his second birthday for the penny to drop and, boy, did it in some style. After his Category Two success at Romford in the Coral Silver Maiden in January, last weekend he made everyone sit up with his astounding effort against Droopys Graph, the superstar and one of the current Derby favourites.
"We tempted fate on Saturday morning by calling Kindy our best chance of going deep into the Derby (at Towcester) and a few hours later those hopes were laying in ruins. After Zenith Tanju’s injury in the Winter Derby, this second blow was not a palatable one but that’s the ups and downs of the sport we love.
"Kindy, you only raced a handful of times but you had a Rolls Royce engine and we will never forget your runs. Happy retirement young lad. If you are half as good a pet as you were a racer, someone is going to be very lucky to have you in their family.
"Thank you for the brief yet so memorable career. Let’s hope your brother Jimbombom can step up now and attempt to fill the void left by your untimely career ending injury.
"Go well young Kindy you beautiful hound."
