Could Mongys Wild aim for the third straight Golden Jacket title in 2027?
A crack at a third straight Ladbrokes Golden Jacket is not out of the question for Mongys Wild as long as the competition is in February once more next year.

Golden Jacket hat-trick attempt for Mongys Wild?
Mongys Wild, along with kennelmate Proper Heiress one of greyhound racing’s biggest stars, could be aimed at an incredible third Ladbrokes Golden Jacket after his brilliant back-to-back success at Monmore on Saturday
A superb, albeit narrow winner of the latest running of the six-bend showpiece to go double up in the Golden Jacket, Mark Wallis's champion emulated previous dual winners in Bobs Regan (1991-92), Wexford Minx (1994-95) and Bellmore Sally (2022-23) - and it is the latter's efforts which catch the eye. Indeed, recent history suggests the bid for a hat-trick of wins in the famous event is not beyond the realms of possibility.
Jimmy Fenwick went for a third Golden Jacket victory with Neil McGregor's star in 2024 and gallantly she reached the semi-finals at Crayford before bowing out, and age-wise the task facing Mongys Wild in 2027 is not too dissimilar.
"Assuming the (Ladbrokes) Golden Jacket is run in February again, and we've no reason to think that won't be the case, then Mongys Wild would be something like six weeks or so older than Bellmore Sally was for her third Golden Jacket, so I suppose it's not impossible, although it's a long way off.
"You'd still say it's unlikely given the tracks we're running Ned (Mongys Wild) at are more testing ones perhaps. Plus he's a dog, and staying bitches tend to have longer racing careers. But he's a bit of a freak is Ned and, depending on his workload in 2026, and it might be the TV Trophy and St Leger again for him, plus maybe the odd match race, we might find ourselves thinking about Monmore again!
"Of course, should at any point we think his form is beginning to tail off, then that would be it. He owes us nothing, but massively enjoys his racing. He wants to get to the track and race!
"And Saturday at Monmore was fantastic and it's a privilege to have a dog like him in the kennel at the same time we've got Proper Heiress. We're enjoying the ride with both - each have six Cat One wins now - and fingers crossed for another good year for both.
"Both are definitely in the second half of their careers, but it's started well for Ned this year with a Cesarewitch and Golden Jacket, and it's Central Park next for the (Arc) Kent Plate with Proper Heiress. He's flown round Monmore in trials and looks as good as ever.
"The (Star Sports & Orchestrate) Derby is his number one target."
