Box opts for Towcester instead of Wembley

Graham Box has chosen Towcester over Wembley on Saturday.

The owner of Bockos Diamond had a big decision to make with his ante-post favourite running in heat 13 of the Star Sports & TRC English Derby and his beloved Crystal Palace playing in the FA Cup final on the same day.

However, his loyalty lies with his Irish Derby winner and he will be at the track to cheer him on.

“We’ve given our Wembley tickets to some of the family and we’re going to Towcester,” said Box.

“We’re meeting a few friends at the track and we’ll be watching the game there.”

Bockos Diamond was beaten to the bend last week and had to show some track craft to make his way to the front. He went on to score by a length from Killieford Goram and Box was pleased with what he saw.

“He ran well in the first round,” the owner added.

“Killieford Goram took a freakish break – no one saw that coming! If you wanted any dog to go round in front of him, it wouldn’t have been that one.”

“Out of his all of his races, Bockos Diamond has had it all his own way in most of them, so he did well”

The Graham Holland-trained dog son of Dorotas Wildcat and Seaglass Shadow goes in heat 13 of the second round night and his owner optimistic of a big run.

Box continued: ““Hopefully, on Saturday we will see what he can do. He should lead around the bend

“Graham is the master of Derbys and he’ll bring him along slowly. The dog won’t be 100% just yet and there is still a long way to go in the Derby.

“It would be a lovely double if Crystal Palace and Bockos Diamond could both win!”
