Double galore at Hove

It was opens all the way at Hove on Thursday evening and there were doubles for four separate trainers.

Seamus Cahill kicked the night off with a winner thanks to Tivoli Milo’s trap-to-line 4/1 success over 500m in 29.33, while his kennelmate Kelvins Hat (4/1) repeated the dose in 29.42 (-10) later on the card.

Ricky Holloway’s Razldazl Royco (15/8) made all in the maiden sprint and stopped the clock at 16.81 (-5), before Droopys Playgirl (6/4fav) brought up the double for the kennel with a facile 29.84 (-10) triumph from the front in a 500m maiden.

Gur Gur Granvile (3/1) just held Annadown Zara by a short head when taking a 500m maiden for Belinda Green in 29.76 (-10), while the local handler also won a similar event with Jacktavern Mojo (8/15fav), who stopped the clock at 29.46 (-10).

Jason Heath’s Minstrels Six powered home to collar Rules For Some right on the line in heat one of the Coral 695 Stayers Trophy in 42.29 (-15), while the second heat went the way of Derek Knight’s Glenmavis (5/6fav), who also got up in the dying strides to score in 42.25 (-15).

That completed a double for Knight who had earlier seen his Break Point justify 8/11 favouritism in good style over 500m in 29.61 (-10).

Ballydoyle Toby made every yard a winning one when landing a sprint for David Dark in 16.52 (-15), while the Jaime Kingsley-trained Bu Han Tag sprang a 10/1 surprise over 500m with a comfortable triumph in 29.98 (-10).

The Coral 285 Sprint Trophy final was the most valuable race of the evening and it saw Maxine Locke’s Beaming Isla (9/4) dominate impressively for an easy victory in 16.29 (-5).

Heilbron hat-trick at Newcastle

There were nine opens at Newcastle and three of them were won by Tom Heilbron, including the Arena Racing Company Standard Final with Ballymac Sargie.

The 6/4 chance went fastest in the heats and backed that up by staying on well to pick up the 480m decider from Crooks Stevie in 28.61.

Heilbron also got on the scoresheet with Droopys Link (9/4), who won a 480m maiden in 29.25 (+10), and Deerjet Rocket, who caught the eye when making all in a useful 28.55.

There were two other finals at the Byker circuit and Droopys Anthea popped out and made all at 11/1 in 28.70 (+10) for Jimmy Fenwick in the Arena Racing Company Puppy decider.

Her kennelmate Elusivenomore produced the performance of the night when running out a smart winner in a red-hot 28.39 (+10) and the 13/8 favourite brought up a double for Fenwick in the process.

The Arena Racing Company Bitches final saw Makeit Mead (9/2) fly home to deny the well-fancied Blackhouse Kim (4/9fav) in 28.91 (+10).

David McLaughlan’s Saleen Ri began the opens by scoring at 4/9 in a 480m maiden in 28.62 (+10), while Hardwick Teddy (9/4) won the only 706m contest of the night in fine style as he stopped the clock at 43.20 (+20).

The other open of the evening saw Untold Ariary (15/8) run out a two-and-a-half-length winner over 480m in 28.82 for Glenn Foot.
