Droopys Kathleen set for Dunstall Park trial
The long-absent Irish star Droopys Kathleen will trial at Dunstall Park on Friday ahead of a planned tilt at the Oaks.

Kathleen to trial at Dunstall Park
Droopys Kathleen will continue on the comeback trail with a trial at Dunstall Park on Friday.
Robert Gleeson’s bitch made huge waves last autumn when winning all five of her starts and setting a new 525-yard track record at Shelbourne Park in the semi-finals of the Puppy Oaks.
The Irish superstar has been off the track since winning the final of that competition on November 16 and has had a few issues during her time on the sidelines.
The May 2023 daughter of Droopys Sydney and Droopys Dancer had a damaged tendon removed and her first season meant she had to miss the BOYLE Sports Irish Derby.
She impressed in a recent four-bend private trial at Newbridge and now heads to Dunstall Park for her latest workout, with a view to contesting the Oaks at the newly-opened Wolverhampton track.
Speaking to the Racing Post, Gleeson said: “She’s in great order and really went well in her last trial.
“She checked out well afterwards and that made my mind up that she was ready to travel over and have a look at the new track at Dunstall Park.
“She’s booked in for a 480m trial and once we see how she goes, we’ll decide the next step.
“It’s exciting to think she’s close to a return. It’s been a long and patient wait to get back to this stage and we’re all looking forward to her coming back”
Entries for the Oaks close on Tuesday September 30, with the first of four rounds on Friday October 3 and the £20,000-to-the-winner final taking place on Friday October 24.
