Fantastic four for Dimmock at Central Park plus other Saturday open reports
There was open race action at Central Park, Monmore and Doncaster on Saturday night with Heather Dimmock landing a four-timer at the first named.
Dimmock domination at Central Park
Five runners, four winners. That was the return last night at Central Park for the Heather Dimmock team who had two in one contest! Those victories included a clean sweep the staying races, as well as one win over the 491m distance.
Droopys Mikado was the quickest of the 664m winners which should be no surprise given she was an early track record holder over 660m at Dunstall Park. As things stand, only Romeo Empire has gone quicker around there. She clocked 40.63 on a track that was then rated 45 slow, always in control from the front.
That same away and gone style was used to perfection by Droopys Extragud who got off the mark over six bends. The four-time Category One finalist already has an excellent resume, despite his regularity of picking up difficult draws. From the red jacket last night, he was always in control for open race win number 14.
The other staying winner was Givemethemoney who came from a little off the pace to pick up the running at the fifth bend. Dimmock's Signet Morgan kicked off the winning spree in a bitches race, powering home to pick up the win.
Maxine Locke picked up a double on the card courtesy of Racenight Mikey and Razldazl Myway. The pair clocked 29.17 and 29.25 respectively, each of them turning over an odds on favourite, the latter getting the better of King Memphis.
Although that Liz McNair-trained star was unsuccessful, King Presley added to his lead at the top of the open race winners this year, picking up his 22nd. It was a fourth win in a row and the 10th that he has produced from his last 11 starts.
Another of the shorties on the night to oblige was Julie Luckhurst's Earls Jaguar. Sold for £6,000 off the bench at the Greyhound Trader Doncaster Sales in August, he added an open race win to a pair of A1 victories.
Droopys Verdict was successful for Ricky Holloway to open up the card, Moody Rudy scored for Gemma Byford and the final race of the night went to Dave Puddy's Hasty Lottie
The Deejay V Blanco rematch didn't disappoint at Monmore
There were just three opens at Monmore with the return clash between Newinn Deejay and Ballymac Blanco the highlight on the card. Maxine Locke's charge had got the better of Mark Wallis's in the heats of the Ladbrokes.com 480 last week but the roles were reversed in the final, with just half a length separating the pair.
Deejay had been held up in his run at a key time in the heats but things panned out much better for him in the final. Despite turning closer to last than first, a gap opened up off the second turn and after Blanco had had to put in a big effort to get on top of Aero Bucks who'd made the early running, he had nothing to hold off the closer.
Another interesting matchup on paper was Nathan Hunt's Goldfish Warrior taking on Maxine Locke's The Other Chief. As it was, things were over at the traps with Goldfish Warrior taking a flier. Pat Curtin took the sprint contest on the card with Droopys Version who had been seen in the final of the BetGoodwin Series Maiden Sprint last week at Oxford.
Doncaster double for Gaskin
A pair of open winners (and a B1 scorer) in the evening for Jimmy Gaskin topped off a decent day, following three more winners on the morning card. SwiftJeromo and Redbrick Luna are two hugely consistent types for the kennel with a combined record of 41/128 between them. They picked up 450m and 483m contests respectively.
Kirsty Grayson's Look Smart did exactly that in another 450m contest. He came from last to first, sidestepping trouble at the opening bend before powering away from off the final turn to run out an impressive winner. It was his 11th win in 25 career starts.
It wouldn't be a Saturday night at Doncaster without a David Fradgely winner, Knotmor Signet his one last night. Progressive in the lower grades at Kinsley, she was off the mark at the seventh time of asking in an open.
Epic Rebel closed out the card for Phil Milner, coming home wide and late to pick up his kennelmate Keefill Goose on a night that became progressively more difficult for the inside runners. Other winners on the night were Grovenor Mona for Beverly Heaton and Zari Lizzy for Ricky Overton.
